Currency Converter
Daily rates for 160+ currencies, including BDT, with history. Runs in your browser.
About this currency converter
This currency converter changes an amount between 161 world currencies, including the US dollar, euro, pound, Indian rupee and Bangladeshi taka, at the daily mid-market reference rate. The date of the rate and where it came from are shown under every result, so you always know how fresh the number is.
Type an amount, pick two currencies, and the result updates as you type. Swap them with one click, keep a list of other currencies converted at the same time, check the rate on any day since March 2024, or open a 30-day chart. Crypto and precious metals are one checkbox away.
One thing to know before you rely on it: these are reference rates, the midpoint between what buyers pay and sellers ask on the market. Banks, cards and money-transfer services add a margin on top, so the rate you are actually offered will be worse. Use this to know the fair value, then compare what providers charge.
Features
161 currencies, BDT included
Every ISO 4217 currency in the daily data set, from AED to ZMW, with the most used ones (USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CNY, INR, BDT, CAD, AUD and more) pinned at the top. Tick a box to add Bitcoin, Ether, other tokens and gold and silver.
Rate date and source on screen
Each result shows the date the rate is for (UTC), the data set it comes from, which mirror delivered it and how long ago it was fetched. Refresh asks for the newest file.
Works offline with saved rates
Rates are kept in memory and in this browser for 3 hours. If the network fails later, the converter keeps working with the last rates and clearly says how old they are.
Many currencies at once
Add up to 12 currencies to the Also in list to see the same amount in each. Click one to make it the main target. Your list and last pair are remembered on this device.
Past rates and a 30-day chart
Pick any date from 2 March 2024 to see that day's rate and the percentage change since. The 30-day chart shows the trend, low, high and change, with exact values on hover and as a table.
How to use the currency converter
- 1Enter an amount and pick the From and To currencies.
- 2Read the result and the rate date. Swap or add more currencies.
- 3Pick a past date or open the 30-day chart to see how the rate moved.
When to use it
Sending money home
Check that 500 USD is about how many taka at today's mid-market rate, then compare it with what your bank or transfer app quotes. The gap is their margin. Use the percentage calculator to see it as a percent.
Pricing for international customers
Freelancers and shops can see a price in several currencies at once with the Also in list, then round to friendly local numbers.
Writing amounts on documents
Convert an invoice total, then spell the amount out in words for a cheque or contract.
What is the mid-market rate?
At any moment, banks and dealers quote two prices for a currency: the bid (what they pay you) and the ask (what they charge you). The mid-market rate is the point halfway between. It is the fairest single number for what a currency is worth, and it is what this converter shows.
Nobody sells you money at that rate. A card payment abroad, an airport kiosk or a bank transfer each adds a spread, a fee, or both. That is why the rate on your receipt is never quite the one here. When a provider advertises "zero fees", compare its rate with this one to see the cost they built into the exchange rate instead.
Where do these exchange rates come from?
The converter uses an open-source daily exchange rate data set, published under the CC0 public-domain licence and updated once a day. It covers far more currencies than central-bank feeds: the European Central Bank, for example, publishes reference rates for about 30 currencies and does not include the taka.
The files are served by the jsDelivr CDN, with a Cloudflare Pages mirror as a fallback if the first fails. Your browser downloads one public file of about 3 KB with every rate against the US dollar. Your amount and the currencies you pick never leave the page. All cross rates, such as EUR to BDT, are worked out from the dollar rates.
How often are rates updated?
Once a day. The date shown with the result is the day the rates are for, in UTC. Currency markets trade around the clock on weekdays, so a daily rate is a snapshot, not a live quote. For a payment or a trade, use the live rate your provider shows at the moment of the transaction.
For some currencies, the official rate and the rate people actually use can differ a lot, for example where a central bank fixes the rate or capital controls exist. Treat any single reference rate for those currencies with care.
How is a currency conversion calculated?
With rates against a common base, the maths is one line: amount × (rate of target ÷ rate of source). If 1 USD = 124.04 BDT and 1 USD = 0.8974 EUR, then 1 EUR = 124.04 ÷ 0.8974 ≈ 138.22 BDT, and 250 EUR ≈ 34,555 BDT.
- The inverse rate is simply 1 divided by the rate: 1 BDT ≈ 0.00806 USD.
- Percentage change between two dates is (new − old) ÷ old × 100, the usual percentage change formula.

Tips
- Want a fair comparison? Divide what a transfer service will deliver by the amount you send. Compare that number with the rate here.
- Converting units as well as money for a trip? The unit converter handles miles, litres and degrees.
- Paying Zakat on savings held in several currencies? Convert them all here, then add them up in the Zakat calculator.
Questions
Is this the exchange rate my bank will give me?
No. This is the mid-market reference rate. Banks, cards and transfer services add a margin, so their rate is less favourable. Use this rate as the benchmark to see how much they charge.
How often are the rates updated?
Once a day. The date under the result shows which day the rates are for, in UTC.
What is 1 US dollar in Bangladeshi taka today?
Set From to USD, To to BDT and the amount to 1. The result and the rate date show today's reference value; the default view already shows 100 USD in BDT.
Can I see historical exchange rates?
Yes. Pick a date in Rate on a past date to see that day's rate, back to 2 March 2024. The 30-day chart shows the recent trend for the selected pair.
Does it work offline?
Yes, after you have loaded rates once. They are saved in this browser, and the converter says how old they are when it cannot reach the network.
Is my amount sent anywhere?
No. The page downloads a public rate file and does the maths in your browser. The rate host sees only that someone downloaded the file.
Can it convert cryptocurrency?
Yes. Tick Show crypto and precious metals to add Bitcoin, Ether and other tokens, plus gold and silver per troy ounce. Crypto prices move fast, so a daily rate is only a rough guide.
