Time Zone Converter
Compare time zones and find meeting times that work. Runs in your browser.
About this time zone converter
This time zone converter shows what one moment is in up to 12 cities at once, and its meeting planner finds the hours when everyone is at work. It is for anyone who books calls, posts event times or rings family in another country.
Pick a date and time in your base city. Every other row shows its local time, a +1 day or −1 day badge when the date differs, the UTC offset and whether daylight saving is on. Below that, a 24-hour grid shades working hours and night for each city.
Offsets come from the IANA time zone database built into your browser, so daylight saving rules are current. Nothing is sent to a server.
Features
Search by city, country or abbreviation
Type Dhaka, Germany, PST or IST. Cities that aren't official zone names, such as Delhi (Asia/Kolkata) or Mecca (Asia/Riyadh), are mapped for you.
Daylight saving shown, not hidden
Each city gets a Daylight saving tag when clocks are moved forward, plus the date of the next change and whether clocks go forward or back.
Meeting planner with real overlap
Set working hours, say 9:00 to 17:00. The overlap row counts how many cities are at work in each hour, and a line of text names the best hours.
Odd offsets handled
India is UTC+5:30 and Nepal UTC+5:45. Their minutes show in each row and in the planner, so a 9:00 call in London isn't mislabelled as 14:00 in Mumbai when it is really 14:30 in winter.
Share a time without an account
Copy share link gives a URL that opens the same cities and moment for the other person. Copy times gives a plain-text list for chat or email.
How to use the time zone converter
- 1Set a date and time for the base zone, or press Now.
- 2Add cities or zones by name, country or abbreviation such as PST.
- 3Pick a meeting hour in the planner, then copy the times or a share link.
When to use it
Booking a call across three continents
Add New York, London and Dhaka, set working hours, and read the overlap row. Click the hour you like and it becomes the selected time in every row.
Checking a deadline in a client's time zone
A 17:00 deadline in Sydney can pass while it is still morning in Europe. One row each settles it.
Posting an event time
Set the start in your city, then copy the list of local times for your audience.
How do time zones and UTC offsets work?
Every zone is defined as an offset from UTC, Coordinated Universal Time. Dhaka is UTC+6 all year. New York is UTC−5 in winter and UTC−4 in summer. ISO 8601, the international date and time standard, writes that offset after the time, like 2026-10-30T14:00+06:00.
A zone name such as America/New_York beats a bare offset, because it carries every past and planned rule change. These names come from the IANA time zone database. Your browser ships with more than 400 of them, and the picker lists them all.
Why does the time difference change during the year?
Because countries switch to daylight saving time on different dates, and many never switch at all. The gap between two cities can change twice a year even if neither city moves.
- United States and Canada: clocks go forward on the second Sunday in March and back on the first Sunday in November.
- European Union and the UK: forward on the last Sunday in March and back on the last Sunday in October, both at 01:00 UTC.
- South-eastern Australia and New Zealand: daylight saving runs from late September or early October to early April, the opposite of the north.
- Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, China, Japan and most of Africa: no daylight saving, so their offset stays the same all year.
- So for a few weeks in March and around late October, New York is 4 hours behind London, not 5.
What is the best way to find a meeting time across time zones?
Add every attendee's city, set the working hours, and look at the overlap row. Yellow cells mean everyone is at work. If there are none, the summary names the hours where the most people are available, so you can decide who takes the early or late slot.
Two practical gotchas. First, an hour counts only when it fits completely inside the working hours. In a half-hour zone such as India, the slot from 16:30 to 17:30 doesn't count if the day ends at 17:00. Second, the weekend option assumes Saturday and Sunday off. Untick it for teams with a Friday and Saturday weekend.
Why use Mavros
| Mavros | Typical upload sites | |
|---|---|---|
| Converter and meeting planner | Same screen, overlap counted per hour | Often separate pages, overlap left for you to spot |
| City search | Cities, countries and abbreviations like PST or IST | Official zone names or a fixed city list |
| Daylight saving | Tag per city plus the next clock change | Offset shown, change dates on another page |
| Times that don't exist or repeat | Flagged with a plain note | Shifted silently |
| Sharing | Link after #, nothing sent to a server, no account | Short links, sign-in, or paid export |
| Ads and sign-up | None | Common |
Tips
- Store and send times in UTC or with an offset when you write them down. If you work with server logs, a Unix timestamp converter turns epoch seconds into readable dates.
- Server jobs often run in UTC. Before you set up a schedule, check the hour here and then read the cron expression to confirm when it fires.
- Planning weeks ahead? Count the days between two dates, then convert the start time here.
- Working with Hijri or Bengali dates as well? The Calendar Converter (Gregorian, Hijri, Bengali) shows a Gregorian date in both.
Questions
How do I convert a time from one time zone to another?
Set the date and time in the first row, your base city, then add the other city. Its local time appears instantly.
Does this converter handle daylight saving time?
Yes. It uses the time zone rules built into your browser for the exact date you pick. Each city shows a Daylight saving tag and its next clock change.
What is the difference between UTC and GMT?
UTC is the world's time standard; GMT is a time zone that matches UTC. For everyday conversion they show the same clock time. The UK uses GMT in winter and BST, which is UTC+1, in summer.
What do EST, EDT, PST and IST mean?
They are short names for zones. EST and EDT are US Eastern standard and daylight time (UTC−5 and UTC−4), PST is US Pacific standard time (UTC−8), and IST usually means India Standard Time (UTC+5:30). Abbreviations repeat between countries, so city names are safer.
How do I find a meeting time that works for everyone?
Add every attendee's city and set the working hours. The overlap row shows how many cities are at work each hour, and yellow cells mean all of them are. Click a column header to select that hour.
Why does it say my time doesn't exist?
Because clocks jumped forward that night. In New York on 8 March 2026, clocks go from 1:59 am straight to 3:00 am, so 2:30 am never happens. The tool shows the moment one hour later instead.
Can I share a converted time with someone?
Yes. Copy share link creates a URL with the time and cities after the # sign. When the other person opens it, they see the same moment in every city. Browsers don't send that part of a link to any server.
