Text to Handwriting Converter
Turn typed text into a handwritten page. PNG or PDF. Runs in your browser.
About this text to handwriting converter
This text to handwriting converter turns typed text into pages that look written by hand, on lined, grid, dotted or plain paper. Paste a letter, notes or a poem, pick a handwriting style and ink, and download the pages as a PDF or as PNG images.
Most converters just switch to a handwriting font, so every letter e is a perfect copy of the last one and the page still looks typed. This one draws the text letter by letter. Each letter sits a little higher or lower, leans a touch differently and gets slightly more or less ink. You control the slant and how messy it gets.
The pages are drawn on a canvas in your browser and the PDF is assembled on your device. Your text is never uploaded.
Features
Three handwriting fonts, or your own
Caveat for quick, slanted notes, Indie Flower for round and friendly writing, and Kalam for neat print. You can also load a .ttf, .otf or .woff font of your own handwriting, and it stays in your browser tab.
Natural wobble
A Messiness slider from 0 to 10 adds small random shifts in baseline, size, rotation and spacing. Lines drift slightly and ink pressure fades in and out along a line. Rewrite gives a fresh set of wobbles.
Paper that lines up
Lined, grid, dotted or plain, on white, cream or yellow pad colours, with an optional red margin line. The ruled lines come from the same line spacing as the text, so writing always sits on the lines.
Ink and slant
Blue ballpoint, black, blue-black, red, green or pencil grey, or any colour from the picker. Slant runs from 10° left to 20° right.
Multi-page PDF and PNG
Long text flows onto as many A4 or US Letter pages as it needs. Download one PDF with every page at the real paper size, or PNG images, zipped when there is more than one page.
Scanned look
Turn on the scanned paper look for faint fibres and soft shading at the edges, like a page that went through a scanner.
How to use the text to handwriting converter
- 1Type or paste your text.
- 2Choose the handwriting, ink, paper, slant and messiness.
- 3Download the pages as a PDF or PNG images.
When to use it
Personal letters and cards
Type a thank-you note or a letter to a grandparent, choose cream paper and blue ink, and print it. It feels warmer than a typed page and saves cramped hands.
Notes and study sheets
Turn typed revision notes into a handwritten-style page on grid paper. Some people find it easier to read and remember. To combine several downloads, use merge PDF.
Props for video, photos and design
A handwritten note on the fridge in a short film, a recipe card for a food blog, or a letter in a game. Download PNG with no margin line for a clean image.
Worksheets and classroom handouts
Teachers make friendly-looking instructions or copy-work examples on lined paper, then print them. Add a real signature afterwards with the PDF signing tool.
How do you make typed text look handwritten?
Real handwriting is never regular. Letters change size by a few percent, the baseline wanders, the pen presses harder in some places, and lines drift up or down across the page. A plain handwriting font has none of that, which is why it gives itself away.
This converter adds those differences on purpose. At the default messiness of 5, a letter moves up or down by up to about 2% of its height and turns by up to about 1.5°, and each line can drift by around 3% of a letter height from start to end. Push the slider to 10 for a rushed scrawl, or set it to 0 for tidy, even text.
- Use a slant of 3° to 8° for typical right-handed cursive.
- Keep letter size around 70% of the line spacing so letters don't touch the line above.
- Cream paper with blue-black ink looks more natural in photos than pure white and black.
Which paper size and line spacing should I choose?
Pick A4 for most of the world and US Letter for the US and Canada. Pages are drawn at 150 dots per inch, so an A4 page is 1240 × 1754 pixels, sharp enough to print.
Line spacing is shown in millimetres. Wide-ruled school paper is about 8.7 mm, college-ruled about 7.1 mm. The default of 8.8 mm suits the default letter size. Shrink both together for more words per page.
Can I use this for school assignments?
Check your school's rules first. If an assignment asks for your own handwriting, a generated page is not that, and a teacher who knows your writing will spot it. Use it where the look is the point: cards, letters, crafts, design mock-ups and your own notes.
Why use Mavros
| Mavros | Typical upload sites | |
|---|---|---|
| Letter-by-letter variation | Size, angle, baseline and ink pressure | Same glyph every time |
| Lines match the text | Ruling from the line spacing | Text often floats between lines |
| Multi-page PDF | Built locally at A4 or Letter size | Single image, or server-made |
| Own font | Loaded in the tab, not uploaded | Upload or not supported |
| Watermark or sign-up | None | Common on free tiers |
| Privacy | Text stays on your device | Text sent to a server |
Tips
- For several pages, check each one with the page arrows before downloading. A page break can land in the middle of a paragraph.
- Blank lines in your text become blank lines on the page. Use them to space out paragraphs, a greeting and a sign-off.
- PDF pages are images, so the text can't be selected or searched. Keep your typed original.
- Large files? Run the PDF through compress PDF, or download PNG and shrink it with the image compressor.
- Your own handwriting font gives the most convincing result. Free font-maker sites turn a filled-in template into a .ttf you can load here.
Questions
Is this text to handwriting converter free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no page limit. Everything runs in your browser, so the only limit is what your device can draw.
Can I use my own handwriting?
Yes, if you turn it into a font first. Fill in a template on a free font-maker site, download the .ttf or .otf, then load it under Use your own font file.
How do I make it look more realistic?
Raise Messiness to 6 or 7, add a slant of 4° to 8°, use blue-black ink on cream paper and turn on the scanned look. Your own handwriting font helps most of all.
Can I download several pages as one PDF?
Yes. Long text flows onto as many pages as needed, and Download PDF puts them all in one file at the real A4 or US Letter size.
Which languages does it support?
The three built-in fonts cover English and other languages written in Latin letters, including accented letters such as é, ñ, ø and ş. Other scripts fall back to a system font, so load a handwriting font for that script instead.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Pages are drawn on a canvas in your browser and the PDF is built on your device with pdf-lib. Fonts load from this site, and your text never leaves the tab.
What resolution are the pages?
150 dots per inch: 1240 × 1754 pixels for A4 and 1275 × 1650 for US Letter. That prints cleanly on home printers and looks sharp on screens.
Why can't I select the text in the PDF?
Each page is stored as an image, which keeps the wobble exactly as you saw it. That also means the PDF has no text layer for searching or copying.
