BD Income Tax Calculator 2026-27
Bangladesh income tax with slabs, rebate and minimum tax. Runs in your browser.
About this bd income tax calculator 2026-27
This Bangladesh income tax calculator works out the personal income tax for a resident individual, using the slabs, tax-free limits, investment rebate and minimum tax in the Finance Act 2026. It covers income year 2025-26 (assessment year 2026-27, the return you file now) and income year 2026-27, which share the same rates.
It's built for salaried people first. Enter your monthly salary and bonuses and it applies the salary exemption, then shows the tax on each slab, your rebate, any minimum tax and what's left after the tax already deducted. Business, rent and freelance income go in as other taxable income.
Every figure comes from the gazetted Finance Act 2026 and the NBR return guide for 2026-27, not from other calculators. Treat the result as an estimate and confirm it with NBR or a tax adviser before you file.

What are the income tax slabs in Bangladesh for 2025-26 and 2026-27?
The Finance Act 2026 (Schedule 2, Part 1, paragraph A) sets the same slabs for assessment years 2026-27 and 2027-28. After the tax-free amount, the next Tk 3,00,000 is taxed at 10%, the next Tk 4,00,000 at 15%, the next Tk 5,00,000 at 20%, the next Tk 20,00,000 at 25% and the rest at 30%. The old 5% slab is gone.
The tax-free limit is Tk 4,00,000 for a general taxpayer, Tk 4,50,000 for women and anyone 65 or over, Tk 5,25,000 for people with a disability and third-gender taxpayers, and Tk 5,50,000 for gazetted war-wounded freedom fighters and gazetted injured July fighters. A parent adds Tk 50,000 for each child or dependant with a disability, but only one parent can claim it.
The same Act already lists Tk 4,50,000 for income years 2027-28 and 2028-29 and Tk 5,00,000 for 2029-30, with a new 35% rate above Tk 3 crore. A later budget can change these, so the calculator labels them as planned.
How is income tax on salary calculated in Bangladesh?
Add up everything your employer paid in the income year: basic, house rent, medical, conveyance, festival bonuses and other allowances. Subtract one third of that total or Tk 5,00,000, whichever is lower. The rest is taxable salary.
Say you earn Tk 75,000 a month plus Tk 1,20,000 in bonuses. The year's salary is Tk 10,20,000 and one third is Tk 3,40,000, so taxable income is Tk 6,80,000. The first Tk 4,00,000 is tax-free and the next Tk 2,80,000 is taxed at 10%: Tk 28,000. A woman on the same salary has a Tk 4,50,000 limit and pays Tk 23,000.
How is the investment tax rebate calculated?
Section 78 of the Income Tax Act 2023, as amended by the Finance Act 2026, gives the least of three amounts: 3% of taxable income, 10% of eligible investment, or Tk 7,50,000. It used to be 15% of investment with a Tk 10 lakh cap, so the same investment now saves less.
In the example, 3% of Tk 6,80,000 is Tk 20,400. With Tk 60,000 invested, 10% is Tk 6,000, so tax falls to Tk 22,000. Investing Tk 2,04,000 would earn the full Tk 20,400 and leave Tk 7,600 to pay.
- Life insurance premiums and provident fund contributions
- DPS with a bank or financial institution, up to Tk 1,20,000 a year
- Government savings certificates and securities, up to Tk 5,00,000
- New investment in shares, mutual funds or debentures listed in Bangladesh
- Donations to a zakat fund and to approved charities and institutions
What is the minimum income tax in Bangladesh?
If your income is above the tax-free limit, you pay at least Tk 5,000, even when the slabs and rebate give less. A new taxpayer pays at least Tk 1,000. The amount no longer depends on whether you live in Dhaka, another city or elsewhere. Below the limit there's no minimum tax, though you may still need to file.
The NBR guide for 2026-27 also links tax to the filing date. Filing from 1 July to 30 September cuts the tax due with the return by 5%, up to Tk 25,000. October to December changes nothing. From January to March you add 2% or Tk 3,000, whichever is higher, and from April to June 5% or Tk 5,000.

Tips
- Use your salary certificate for the yearly total. It lists every allowance and the tax already deducted.
- Only investment made in the income year counts. A savings certificate bought in an earlier year doesn't qualify again.
- Interest on FDRs and savings certificates has tax deducted at source. Whether that tax is final depends on the instrument, so check before you add it here. The FDR calculator shows what a deposit earns.
- Paid monthly? The salary calculator turns a monthly figure into a yearly one with unpaid leave taken off.
- Zakat isn't income tax, but zakat fund donations count for the rebate. Work out what you owe with the zakat calculator, and find more in our finance calculators.
Questions
What is the tax-free income limit in Bangladesh for 2025-26?
Tk 4,00,000 for a general taxpayer. Women and people 65 or over get Tk 4,50,000, people with a disability and third-gender taxpayers Tk 5,25,000, and gazetted war-wounded freedom fighters and injured July fighters Tk 5,50,000.
Is the 2026-27 tax-free limit different?
No. The Finance Act 2026 sets the same limits and slabs for income years 2025-26 and 2026-27. The general limit rises to Tk 4,50,000 from income year 2027-28, unless a later budget changes it.
What is an income year and an assessment year?
The income year is when you earn the money, 1 July to 30 June. The assessment year is the next one, when the return is filed and the tax assessed. Income from July 2025 to June 2026 is assessed in 2026-27.
How much of my salary is tax-free?
One third of your total salary or Tk 5,00,000, whichever is lower. On a yearly salary of Tk 12,60,000, Tk 4,20,000 is exempt and Tk 8,40,000 is taxable.
How is the tax rebate calculated in 2025-26?
It's the least of 3% of taxable income, 10% of eligible investment, or Tk 7,50,000. The rebate can't exceed the tax itself, and the minimum tax still applies after it.
What is the minimum tax in Bangladesh now?
Tk 5,000 if your income is above the tax-free limit, wherever you live. A new taxpayer pays at least Tk 1,000. Below the limit there's no minimum tax.
Does this include the wealth surcharge or final-rate income?
No. It covers resident individuals with income taxed at normal slab rates. Net wealth surcharge, income taxed at final or reduced rates, and non-resident foreigners follow other rules.
Where do these figures come from?
From the Finance Act 2026 (Act No. 96 of 2026), Schedule 2, Part 1, and its amendment to section 78 of the Income Tax Act 2023, checked against the NBR return guide for 2026-27. Both are on nbr.gov.bd.
